The professional motivation model allows us to understand what truly drives a person to engage in their work, to stay in it, and to perform well.

Where personality analysis explains how someone functions, this model explains why they act.

Several people may have the same skills, the same personality, but be motivated by completely different things. One will seek to learn, another to earn more, a third to work in a good atmosphere. If the position does not meet these expectations, engagement quickly drops, even if the recruitment seemed relevant.

The model identifies nine motivational drivers grouped into three main categories: what motivates in the job itself, what motivates in the proposed conditions, and what motivates in the work environment.

Motivations related to the job

These dimensions correspond to what attracts the person in the content of the work itself.

Professionalization

This dimension measures the need to learn, progress, and develop one's skills. A person highly motivated by professionalization seeks a role that allows them to grow, acquire new expertise, and feel they are progressing. They will be stimulated by training, new projects, increased technical responsibility, or continuous learning.

Conversely, they quickly become demotivated if the work becomes repetitive, if they stop learning, or if they feel they are stagnating. This type of profile may leave a financially attractive position simply because they are no longer progressing.

Job Interest

This dimension measures the appeal of the tasks' content. Some individuals need to find meaning in their work, vary their tasks, or tackle intellectual challenges. They are motivated by stimulating, useful, or diverse assignments.

When this motivation is high, the person seeks a dynamic role with variety and a degree of autonomy. Conversely, overly rigid, monotonous, or administrative work can quickly lead to a loss of engagement, even in a good environment.

Career Progression

This dimension measures the importance placed on career advancement. Individuals highly motivated by progression seek to move forward, take on more responsibilities, or attain a higher status. They are sensitive to prospects, promotions, and hierarchical advancement.

Without clear progression prospects, these profiles may quickly look elsewhere. Conversely, a career plan, even in the medium term, can significantly strengthen their commitment.

Motivations related to conditions

These dimensions correspond to what the person expects from the proposed framework.

Recognition

This dimension measures the need for validation. Some individuals need their work to be seen, recognized, and appreciated. They are sensitive to positive feedback, thanks, and the highlighting of their achievements.

A lack of recognition can be very demotivating for these profiles, even if the job is interesting. Conversely, management that regularly values contributions significantly enhances their engagement.

Remuneration

This dimension measures the importance of financial reward. Some individuals are highly motivated by salary, bonuses, or salary progression. They associate performance with financial recognition.

When this motivation is dominant, bonus, variable pay, or incentive systems are particularly effective. Conversely, a fixed or stagnant remuneration can quickly become a demotivating factor.

Security

This dimension measures the need for stability. Individuals motivated by security seek a stable, structured, and predictable environment. They value the company's longevity, the clarity of the framework, and the stability of the position.

These profiles can be destabilized by frequent changes, unclear organization, or high uncertainty. Conversely, a clear and reassuring framework promotes their long-term engagement.

Motivations related to the environment

These dimensions correspond to what motivates the person in the human context.

Team and Values

This dimension measures the importance of the collective. Some individuals are very sensitive to the atmosphere, cohesion, and shared values. They seek a collaborative, benevolent environment aligned with their beliefs.

A positive team climate can be a very powerful engagement factor for these profiles. Conversely, tensions, individualism, or internal competition can quickly demotivate them.

Management

This dimension measures the impact of the management style on motivation. Some individuals are very sensitive to the quality of management. They need support, a clear framework, or regular follow-up to fully engage.

An available, structured, or inspiring manager can significantly boost their motivation. Conversely, absent or inconsistent management can quickly lead to a loss of engagement.

Work-Life Balance

This dimension measures the importance of quality of life. Some individuals place great value on the balance between their work and personal life. They are sensitive to hours, flexibility, or workload.

A flexible environment that respects personal time and is balanced promotes their engagement. Conversely, constant pressure or overload can quickly demotivate them.

What the model reveals

The model does not just indicate what motivates a person the most.

It also helps to understand how to engage them, how to manage them, and what the risks of demotivation are.

It then becomes possible to answer key questions:

Is this candidate motivated by the job content or the environment?
Will they stay if the salary doesn't change?
Do they need to progress quickly?
Are they sensitive to the team atmosphere?
Will the management style have a strong impact?

This insight helps to secure a recruitment, adapt an onboarding process, or improve an employee's engagement.

How to activate this model on analyses:

This is an optional, specific, additional questionnaire that will be completed after the initial questionnaire.

To activate it, go to My Campaigns, and in the campaign's settings, enable this questionnaire.

Once the questionnaire is completed, the model will be found at the bottom of the profile analysis page.
